Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Status
SAP Standards Met
This status is assigned to a student that is meeting all SAP standards as defined in the SAP policy.
SAP Warning
There is an academic progress evaluation at the end of each semester. A Warning status lasts for one semester during which the student may continue to be eligible for financial aid.
The student will be placed in a warning status and must meet all SAP standards at the end of the semester. If the student meets the standards, he or she will continue to receive financial aid for the next semester of enrollment. If the student does not meet all the SAP standards, he or she will lose financial aid eligibility until all the SAP standards have been met for financial aid to be reinstated. Students are notified that they are on warning and should seek academic advisement.
SAP Probation
This status is assigned to a student who is failing to meet SAP standards and who successfully appeals. Students assigned this status must meet the SAP standards at the end of one semester. Failure to meet the standards will result in the loss of financial aid during the next semester of enrollment.

Academic Plan: Approved Appeal
This status is assigned to a student who is failing to meet SAP standards and who successfully appeals. Students assigned this status must successfully follow the Academic Plan that was developed with the University Advisement Center (UAC) or graduate Advisor/Faculty. Students will be monitored each semester for improvement and/or adherence to the terms of the plan. A student is expected to complete all of the courses with the required semester GPA.
Following this plan successfully will ensure the student to meet the required standards for financial aid. It allows the student to either regain aid eligibility by meeting SAP standards or complete the program of study.
SAP Appeal Not Approved
If your appeal is denied, you may submit a secondary appeal to the Office of Student Financial Aid if you are providing new information that was not considered in your original appeal.
Notification
After grades are available at the end of each semester, SAP statuses are assessed based on all prior cumulative performance. A new status is assigned to the next semester. Email notification is sent to the Georgia State University student email for statuses other than SAP Standards Met. Panther Answer notifications are sent for appeal related status codes.
It is the student's responsibility to monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress status by logging into PAWS. In the My Financial Aid pane of the dashboard, click on My Satisfactory Academic Progress.
